"Once we saw INNERGY Engineering, that just sealed the deal."

About Johnson Brothers:

Johnson Brothers has been in business for 121 years. President Zac Bodily started as a 19-year-old shipping and receiving clerk with no woodworking background and has been with the company 27 years.

Troy Taylor started on the beam saw in 2002 and has since worked project management, drafting, estimating, and engineering. For years the company ran on longhand notes, spreadsheets, and the accumulated judgment of long-tenured employees. That knowledge was the company’s strength and its exposure: the engineer handling the bulk of custom work is retiring after 43 years.

Johnson Brothers runs INNERGY ERP today and is roughly 95% configured on INNERGY Engineering, targeting a September 1, 2026 go-live as one of the first shops on the platform.

The Challenge:

  • Decades of institutional knowledge held in people rather than systems, with a 43-year retirement approaching

  • Redundant engineering work absorbing project manager time that belonged elsewhere

  • An existing engineering software relationship the company describes as unsupportive and not worth the expense

  • Planning and tracking gaps that were leaving capability on the table

The Solution:

  • ERP and Engineering implemented together so products and nomenclature carry straight through

  • Weekly working sessions with a dedicated INNERGY contact throughout configuration

  • Classroom training building a second fluent user before go-live

  • An on-site visit from the INNERGY team that turned shop-floor needs into shipped product changes

Early Results:

  • A bidding operation Troy calls extremely efficient credited to INNERGY ERP

  • Near-instant support response compared with other software companies

  • Most issues resolved in a week or two

  • Roughly 95% configured with an October 1 go-live in sight
